If you dream of flying it is very often a precursor or lead up to a lucid dream ( a dream state in which we are aware we are dreaming and can manipulate the outcome of the dream). Even in a dream state, most of us are aware that we can't fly in normal life, thus on some level, to dream of flying usually coincides with dreaming lucidly for the vast majority of the population, though most awaken unaware of the fact that they were engaged ina lucid dream.
Most people love flying dreams, since the dreamers feel a sense of liberation as they soar through the sky or float around the bedroom. I've never met anyone who hasn't enjoyed the experience of flying in a dream. However, the experience of a flying-in-an-airplane dream is different.
If you have a flying dream, ask yourself what you're flying over.
This may be what you want to rise above. If you're flying over your home, maybe you feel as though you're being bogged down by household chores. If you're flying over a large city, maybe you want more activity in your life, or perhaps you want to escape the concrete jungle. Do you see a group of acquaintances chatting and wish to rise above idle gossip?
The most common feeling associated with flying is exhilaration, a sense of freedom. You can do whatever you want and aren't scared of falling. It speaks of a desire to liberate yourself from mundane, a day-to-day activities.
A lot of people who dream of flying say it signifies a time in their lives when everything is flowing smoothly and they feel in control of their destiny. Other people say it gives them the strength and motivation to take responsibility for something in their lives that they feel is spiraling out of control.
Other types of flying dreams, such as flying in an airplane or helicopter, aren't usually as exhilarating. Sometimes they occur before you or someone else is about to take a flight somewhere. But if that's not the case, it's important to notice where you're flying to in the dream, how you feel about it, and why you feel you need technology to help you rise above it all.

Spontaneous Flying in a Dream
Flying as a spontaneous event often includes some special effort, like flapping one's arms, to start flying. However, many people experience the act of flying as soaring by a mysterious, jet-like power, much like the way Peter Pan or Superman are often pictured flying. These events are precipitated by a strong desire to travel or an imminent danger that requires escape.
To dream of flying as a lucid dream, the event of flying is often of the levitation variety. These dreamers simply choose to fly because, in the reality of their dream, they know they may. This may be related to astral projection or an out-of-body experience that some people undergo. These flights allow dreamers to transcend circumstances and acquire a more favorable or safer perspective. What prompted the will to fly-danger or euphoria-and where did the flight lead?
Once in a while, a dream of flying will not go so well, such as when you can't take off or you lose altitude or something is in your path and you can't fly past or through it. These dreams tell us that we are frustrated or feel burdened, or that that we are not confident in our abilities. In these cases, re-evaluate your goals and find ways around anything that may be hampering your progress. Interpreting a flying dreams is fairly simple. Something is generally going RIGHT in your life! You feel free of cares and worries and you have the world at your feet. Occasionally, we may be flying to avoid something, but the flying in and of itself is still an enjoyable dream activity, and the WAY we do it may tell us more about ourselves than the actual flying.
